What is VALTREX?

Uses:

Dosage and Directions:

Valacyclovir oral suspension (25 mg/mL or 50 mg/mL) for young patients can be made on the spot from 500 mg VALTREX tablets.

Cold Sores (Herpes Labialis):

VALTREX is prescribed for the treatment of cold sores at a dose of 2 grams twice daily for one day, separated by 12 hours.

Genital Herpes:

For the treatment of genital herpes, 1 gram twice daily for 10 days is the recommended dose of VALTREX. When given within 48 hours after the commencement of signs and symptoms, therapy is the most effective.

Herpes Zoster:

VALTREX is prescribed at a dose of 1 gram; three times daily for seven days to treat herpes zoster.
